‘Covid is with us forever’: Are mask mandates making a return?

Simon Beaumont

People are being urged to wear masks again after Western Australia records its 8th outbreak of Covid-19.

The state has seen two deaths in recent days from the virus with 300 outbreaks across aged care centres, putting the most vulnerable at risk.

Infectious disease expert at the University of Queensland Dr Paul Griffen told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings governments need to ensure information is readily available.

“Covid is going to keep doing this… we have excellent tools to try and address that, but we are underutilising them because people don’t know what the risk is,” Dr Griffin said.

“The time for mandating masks is behind us… Covid is with us forever.”
