COVID-19 cases in WA almost triple to 645

West Australian COVID-19 cases have leapt overnight with 645 new local cases recorded.
The number of people in hospital has also risen from two to five, but no one is in intensive care.
Police Minister Paul Papalia on Wednesday morning announced the new daily record, which included 643 local cases.
The spike comes after 252 cases were reported on Tuesday, 214 on Monday, 222 on Sunday and 244 on Friday.
This time last week WA recorded 126 cases. There are now more than 4000 active cases across WA.
In recent days exposure sites have been listed in Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Rockingham and the South West.
WA Health modelling released on Tuesday forecasts a peak of about 10,000 daily cases around the end of March.
