A Perth teenager has been caught up in a Covid 19 text message scam, telling him to self isolate as a close contact when he was not.

The teenager’s mum, Danielle, contacted Perth LIVE to share the story as part of the Word on the Street competition.

She told Oliver Peterson that her son left work and was isolating when he began to question the legitimacy of the text.

Press PLAY to hear details of the apparent scam.

The Health Department has confirmed the text message (below) which Danielle’s son received is a fake and he does not need to isolate.
