Thanks to the instrumental efforts of 6PR listeners, among others, a row of rose bushes threatened by prickly neighbours has been saved from the chop.

As reported last year, the City of Rockingham had demanded 92-year-old Trevor Coster remove his roses after they were deemed a “public safety hazard.”

Mr Coster talked to Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast about how the bushes had been saved thanks to the intervention of the ombudsman and the public, eight months after the original decision.

“I understand they want to go by the regulations, but in this day and age… we can’t just make blind statements and not realise the implications they cause,” Mr Coster said.
