Experts suggest that the most effective way to help prevent the spread of bird flu in Western Australia is to receive the seasonal influenza vaccination.

To better understand the directive, University of Queensland infectious diseases expert Dr Paul Griffin told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl about the correlation.

“Because the flu can infect so many different animals the prospect for getting more than one and it mixing together and creating something new is actually quite significant”, he said.
