WA shoppers appear to be stocking up on supplies as supermarkets across the state experience product shortages.

Coles State General Manager Pat Zanetti told 6PR Breakfast their stores were experiencing “elevated demand”.

“I think what customers are seeing in Perth and WA is different than the east coast,” he said.

“So we’re definitely seeing what we’ll call ‘elevated demand’, we’re not quite seeing panic buying yet.

“We’ve definitely seen customers, I think, watching the news and seeing what’s happened in the east coast, and then come into our stores and feel the need to buy a bit more than they normally would.

“So we’re seeing the pressure of that elevated demand the supply on the shelves.”
