Coles pilots store-to-door drone delivery service

Coles have coupled up with a drone delivery company to fly groceries to shoppers, with a trial to begin November 2.
Wing Australia general manager Simon Rossi told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings the pilot service will operate in South East Queensland, with customers in select Gold Coast suburbs given access to 500 of the supermarket’s most popular items.
“The drone doesn’t actually land – it considers the terrain around it, whether airspace restrictions or other aircraft in the area,” he said.

“As it gets there it hovers about 7m off the ground and then slowly lowers the parcel to the ground, then the aircraft will take off and fly back to base.”
