Recently retired Netball veteran Verity Simmons has traded in the round ball for AFL, signing a one year rookie contract with the West Coast Eagles. 

Simmons, a dual Super Netball premiership player including 159 games for the Fever plus three caps with the Diamonds, told Mark Readings on 6PR Wide World of Sport she felt a change was needed and isn’t worried about her lack footy experience. 

“I just got to a point with netball where I wasn’t loving it like I used to and looking at things I thought that being at elite level like that you just need to be all in at all times”, Simmons said.   

“I haven’t actually been out on an AFL field and played AFL footy”.
