Journalist and POST newspaper editor-in-chief Bret Christian has revealed an astonishing clue regarding the unsolved disappearance of Sarah Spiers to Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings.

He said a horse trainer – who is not named in the POST story – told Mr Christian he saw a man who looked like convicted killer Bradley Edwards emerging from bushland in the Perth Hills, the morning after Ms Spiers disappeared in January 1996.

The horse trainer was doing trackwork at dawn at the time and rode over to look at an off-white Telstra-marked station wagon, startling a man walking from the bush who was carrying a long-handled trenching shovel over his shoulder.

Sarah’s body has never been found and Edwards was tried and found not guilty of Sarah’s murder due to lack of evidence, while he was convicted of the other two women’s murders and is serving a life sentence.

The horse trainer only recently reported the sighting of the man and the Telstra-marked vehicle to police. Edwards used a Telstra-issued vehicle for his work as a Telstra technician.

“In fact the reason he’s only just come forward is he’s been reading my book on the Claremont case – Stalking Claremont – and saw an image of Bradley Edwards and he said ‘that’s the guy I saw coming out of the bush’,” Christian said.
