City of Vincent lifts backyard poultry ban

Article image for City of Vincent lifts backyard poultry ban

Until now backyard poultry has been banned in the City of Vincent, but that will soon change with chickens, bees and pigeons allowed for residents to become more sustainable at home.

Emma Cole, City of Vincent Mayor told Ian Backley, filling in for Jo McManus, that there was a big push from the community to remove these tough restrictions.

“It’s an old local law where the old government thought it would be a public health issue but we took a fresh look at it and we acknowledge that it’s not about prohibiting chickens – it’s about making sure people are doing the right thing,” Ms Cole told Ian.
