Following the report that students at the overcrowded Highgate Primary School were having to “hold on” due to a lack of available toilets, the City of Perth has announced a much-needed school to be built in East Perth.

Perth City Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings the recent development and popularity of East Perth, as well as surrounding suburbs, has lead to more of a demand for facilities in the area.

“There’s lots of young families, and an indication of more young families to come,” Mr Zempilas said.

“We know that more and more families are going to be moving into the area, but the amenities need to keep pace.”
