The City of Fremantle will make a decision this Wednesday, on whether to scrap its Australia Day fireworks celebration for a more culturally-sensitive event.

Mayor Brad Pettitt said that January 26th is not seen as a day of celebration for many Indigenous West Australians, but instead a day of sadness, marking the arrival of the British, 

Mr Pettitt has told Gary Adshead he believes it’s time for a rethink.
