Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzardinge has backed a report that recommends Bathes Beach to be the latest spot for a shark net. 

Other options such as Port beach were considered but the Mayor told Jo McManus on 6PR Afternoons Bathers central location is ideal, catering for a wider demographic. 

“Bathers beach is quite underutilised, it’s also close to public transport and close to other amenities and it seems like a real opportunity for us to bring people to the beach who might not otherwise be getting into the water at the moment”, Mrs Fitzardinge said.
