Cash carrot to lure city workers back to the CBD

There are high hopes for a CBD retail revival after the mask mandate for working indoors ended at midnight on Friday.

The removal will coincide with a WA Property Council campaign to lure officer workers and people back to the city.

Executive director Sandra Brewer told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast the peak body is offering more than $65,000 in prizes in a bid to raise CBD foot traffic.

“There are QR codes located at entries to cafes, shops, bars and office foyers, and rewards for people choosing to come into the office,” she said.

Brewer was not too concerned some of the CBD’s biggest employers, including Chevron, BHP and South 32, were still giving workers the option to work remotely from home.

“I think on the whole the mask mandate removal will give us a boost.”
