60 Minutes reporter Tom Steinfort has gone on assignment behind enemy lines, interviewing Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky.

Steinfort had just crossed the border into Poland and told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast it took 55 hours to get to the president’s bunker in Kyiv.

“It’s been a pretty wild week for us, heading into the eye of the storm there, everyone’s aware of just how horrible things are in Ukraine at the moment, had to really head in there with our heads on a swivel,” he said.

“That’s the danger, but it’s worth it. We’re talking to the international man of the moment and you don’t pass up an opportunity like that when he invites you into his bunker to discuss the war situation. It was a fascinating chat, and what a man to be honest.”
