Calls to change the face of pugs and french bulldogs in Australia

The Australian Veterinary Association is calling for new breeding standards for flat-faced dogs such as pugs and french bulldogs.
They argue changes are needed to encourage traits that make the animals healthier.
Breeders have been encouraged to follow new standards so the health of the dogs improve.
AVA spokesperson Dr David Neck told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast their breathing difficulties present a fatal risk.
