Calls for WA to follow Northern Territory’s minimum alcohol pricing

Renewed calls for minimum alcohol pricing to be introduced in WA after research indicates the impact to “moderate consumers” will be minute.
Public Health Association of Australia CEO Terry Slevin told Oliver Peterson on 6PR Perth Live general consumers will be set back only $3.07 per year.
“Mostly what it affects is the bag in a box of cheap bulk wine”.. “That’s the stuff where people who have genuine high level consumption alcohol problems,” Mr Slevin said.
“They’re buying based on it being cheap but in many cases cheaper than bottled water or milk and that’s fueling an enormous alcohol problem.”
