Calls for stricter laws after data reveals billions in unpaid super
Industry Super Australia is concerned wage theft laws don’t protect people, especially when paying super.
This comes as new data shows there is up to $33 billion in unpaid super, which experts blamed on employers withholding super.
Industry Super Australia CEO Bernie Dean told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live there need to be laws forcing employers to pay super on payday.
“There are a few employers out there who are using these pretty old fashioned laws… that enable them to hold back that money,” said Mr Dean.
“I’d like to think that the government will do the right thing.”
