New Zealand is the latest country to join the United Kingdom and European Union in banning TikTok from government devices and there are calls for Australia to do the same.

This comes after concern the social media platform has ties to the Chinese government.

Shadow Minister for Cyber Security James Paterson told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live TikTok is a serious national security threat.

“I am very worried about the way it could be used for foreign interference in our democracy to undermine social cohesion in our country,” said Mr Paterson.
