Calls for another rent moratorium as availability reaches desperate levels

Welfare organisations are crying out for more to be done as the living spaces available to minimum-wage earners reach a record low of 0.2 per cent.

Across the entire state, there is not a single property – even a room – affordable to someone on Jobseeker or the Disability Pension.

Anglicare CEO Mark Glasson said there are multiple issues that need to be tackled in order to provide relief, including a moratorium on rental prices.

“There are 30,000 people on the waiting list right now. This problem is not going away,” Mr Glasson said.
