A senior police officer in WA’s North West is pushing to lift the ban on cask wine, arguing “goon bags” are safer than glass bottles and less likely to be turned into weapons.

Alcohol restrictions have been back in cultural discussions with the Northern Territory recently extending their alcohol ban.

Gullivers Tavern owner Darren Spackman told Millsy and Karl onĀ 6PR Breakfast glass alcohol containers are often tools in violence in the area.

“As far as we can tell, no-one’s ever been attacked by cask wine,” Mr Spackman said.
