A new report has revealed the parlous state of bulk-billing across Australia, with more and more GPs unable to afford it.

The report found that in Perth alone, fewer than one-in-three GPs offer the bulk-billing service.

Lewis Mackinnon, Deputy WA Chair at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, told Perth Live that a strong level of investment in GPs is needed from the government.

“At the moment, the amount of money the government is offering to patients to pay for their primary care appointments is awfully inaccurate and has been declining year on year,” Mr Mackinnon said.
