Building a tunnel under Perth could be the solution to the Carillon City development disruption

A proposal to build a temporary tunnel under the Murray Street Mall has been put forward to allow trucks to access the Carillon City construction site.

Peter Newman, Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University, explained to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont that he thinks it is a clever plan, but it doesn’t solve the disruption to pedestrians.
“My problem is that they’ll have to have a pedestrian strategy to get around it because that is going to go through two of the most frequently used areas, the Forrest Place and Murray Street Mall,” he said.
