The federal government has approved the extension of Woodside’s North West Shelf gas project contract, allowing the company to operate the facility on the Burrup Peninsula for another 40 years.

Tom Rabe, AFR reporter, spoke to Perth Today host Simon Beaumont about the decision and the conditions attached to the approval.

“The Albanese government are saying that they are going to impose some environmental guardrails to help Woodside conduct its business between now and 2070,” he said.
