Mark McGowan has announced he is stepping down form his role as Premier and Member for Rockingham.

He made the announcement outside Dumas House today, citing burnout and the stress of running the state during the Covid pandemic as the reason behind his resignation.

“I’m extremely tired. In fact, I’m exhausted. I just don’t have the energy or drive to continue in the role as Premier,” Mr McGowan said.

“Now is the right time to step away from the job I have loved.”
