A man in Germany is being questioned in connection with the disappearance of British girl Madeleine McCann almost 15 years ago.

Portuguese prosecutors have announced the breakthrough.

Madeleine went missing from her family’s holiday apartment in the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia da Luz on May 3, 2007, a few days before her fourth birthday.

German police revealed two years ago they were investigating a German man who was already behind bars.

UK correspondent Enda Brady told Gareth Parker on 6PR Breakfast the man in question was known to police.

“His lawyer is insisting that he has not been charged or arrested… but it is the next step in the process,” Brady said.
