Bird flu threat: Perth Zoo increases safety measures for vulnerable animals
The Perth Zoo says it has been preparing for the bird flu threat over the past few years in an attempt to protect its threatened and vulnerable species.

Perth Zoo chief executive David van Ooran told 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont that the concern is the unknown effect of the H5N1 bird flu on other animals.
“This is a very serious strain of bird flu the likes of which has decimated bird life and marine mammals around the world”, he said.
