Big regional cities are ‘essential’ to WA’s renewable energy future, says Cook
Premier Roger Cook discussed the Seven Cities pre-budget announcement with 6PR Drive host Russel Collett, detailing the state plan to invest $692 million in regional housing across Broome, Port Hedland, Karratha, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Bunbury and Albany.
The Premier emphasised the importance of the regions to Western Australia’s economic future.
“When the regions of Western Australia do well the whole of the state does well,”
he said, adding, “If we’re going to be a renewable energy powerhouse, if we’re going to diversify our economy by manufacturing, by adding value to those resources in regional WA we’re going to need a big residential workforce to make that happen.”
