Since 2021, hundreds of thousands of online followers have been captivated by the friendship between Molly the magpie and Peggy the Staffy. However, Queensland authorities have recently seized the magpie.

Veterinarian and Founder of Kalmpets Dr Kate Lindsey has weighed in on the decision to seize of Molly from her family. 

“I have never been concerned about the magpie’s welfare, because the quality of life looked excellent to me.”

“I think there is another there’s another option that really needs to be considered. Molly and Peggy’s humans need to be provided with the necessary information so they can get the appropriate wildlife permit to care for Molly for the rest of her days, because I cannot see how she is going to thrive outside her family unit,” Dr Lindsey said.
