A youth custodial officer has suffered a broken skull after a disturbance last night at Banksia Hill Detention Centre.

Community and Public Sector Union said four people were injured in the disturbance due to understaffing.

CPSU Branch Secretary Rikki Hendon told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live this isn’t good enough.

“This is not the first violent incident that has occurred at Banksia Hill that has injured a worker… it was avoidable,” said Ms Hendon.

“No one should go to work and expect they’re not going to get home safe to their families.”
