Author’s terrifying life on the run from Vladmir Putin
Once a major investor in Russia, Bill Browder has become one of the Kremlin’s biggest enemies.
The US hedge funder became Vladimir Putin’s number one enemy by exposing the Russian leader’s campaign to steal and launder billions of dollars, and kill anyone who stood in his way, including the author’s lawyer.
Russia has tried to get Interpol to issue arrest orders against Browder, who is such a thorn in Putin’s side the Russian president singled him out during his first official summit with ex-US President Donald Trump.
Browder’s book Freezing Order details how he ran one of the largest hedge funds in Russia in the late 1990s and early 2000s and how his public battles against corporate corruption prompted his expulsion from Russia in 2005, as a “threat to national security”.
