Popular right-wing media figure Charlie Kirk has been assassinated while speaking at a university campus in Utah.

Footage from the event shows the 31-year-old being struck by a bullet mid-speech, sparking panic and chaos among the crowd.

Nine’s US Correspondent Jonathan Kersley told 6PR Breakfast hosts Millsy and Karl that authorities remain concerned about possible retaliation.

“There would be a concern that a shooting like this, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, could very well spark anger, spark violence, spark clashes between the left and the right,” he said.
