A prominent Australian psychiatrist told 6PR Mornings host Gary Adshead on Tuesday medical “profiteering’’ was inflating the nation’s health costs.

His warning comes after new data from The Australian’s Needs of The Nation survey found Australians were struggling to pay their medical bills.

Orygen executive director Professor Patrick McGorry said bulk billing was becoming less viable for practitioners.

“They have a critical position these practitioners, because they can they are charging quite large amounts of money,” McGorry said on 6PR Mornings.
