Julian Foster was in Marrakesh watching his partner represent New Zealand at the World Bridge Championship when last Friday’s devastating earthquake struck.

A mosque tower he overlooked while have dinner shortly before the earthquake collapsed, but thankfully both Julian and his partner were not hurt and their travel plans were unaffected as, amazingly, there was no damage to the rail line.

“Things could have been very different if it happened even a few hours earlier,” he said.
