The Prime Minister insists the live cattle trade to Vietnam will not immediately be shut down following allegations of brutality.

Animals Australia has obtained footage showing cattle being hit in the head with a sledgehammer before being slaughtered.

Tony Abbott says while the incidents are being investigated he won’t shut down the trade like Labor did when animals were being mistreated in Indonesia.

Gary Adshead spoke with Animals Australia chief investigator Lynne White and WA Farmers Federation President Dale Park.
