Aussies throw out over 26 million toys each year

Australians are expected to spend around $1 billion this festive season, but new figures reveal that a lot of them will go straight into the bin.
It’s been revealed that 26.8 million toys are thrown out every year.
Flora & Fauna CEO Julie Mathers says there are many children who go without any toys during Christmas.
“We’ve got a bit of a project where we will take toys, and we will up-cycle them and recycle them, if they’re missing an ear or something like that, we will fix it,” she told Millsy on 6PR Afternoons.
“And then we will actually donate them to children who are disadvantaged and who could do with getting a toy this Christmas.”
