Asbestos at Primary School ‘low risk’
Asbestos found at Gooseberry Hill Primary School presented a very low risk to health according to the Department of Education.
John Fischer is the Executive Director of Infrastructure at the Department and says the environmental consultant who inspected the school had concluded that the Asbestos Containing Material in the surface soil appeared to be at levels that presented a very low risk to humans.
He said that while the low level of asbestos detected in the soil did not require the area to be sealed it would covered it as an extra precaution.
