As American pick-up trucks become more common on WA streets, concerns are rising for the safety of other road users.

Associate Professor Milad Haghani, from the Department of Infrastructure Engineering at the University of Melbourne, informed 6PR Breakfast host Millsy and Karl that the weight disparity increases the vulnerability of other motorists.

He noted, ‘If you have a crash where there is half a tonne of weight discrepancy between the two colliding cars, the likelihood of fatality in the smaller car would increase by forty to fifty per cent.
