American AI specialist hopes to get lucky down under

A tech billionaire and former Facebook employee wants to take advantage of Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s recent financial pledges to bost Australia’s defence.
American Palmer Luckey (above) is the founder of artificial intelligence and robotics technology company Anduril Industries and also designed virtual reality pioneer Oculus.
He told Liam Bartlett on 6PR Mornings his technology could help boost several of Australia’s proposed key defense investments.
“The way I look at it is, our technology helps people and robots work together really well,” he told Bartlett.
“Some of that is artificial intelligence, that makes robots able to do their work without being directly controlled by other people, some of it is commander control software, which makes it very easy for people to understand what their sensors are seeing, what the robots are seeing.”
