UPDATE: The children of the 35-year-old woman who died after allegedly being assaulted by her partner are reportedly “traumatised” after the incident.

It’s believed the man, 37, then attempted to rob a service station before dramatically crashing his car into a tree.

Nine News reporter Mia Edgerton-Warburton told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings witnesses say it looked like he was travelling at about 100km/h before he crashed.

“There’s just debris everywhere and when you look at pictures of that car, it’s just remarkable to think that anyone actually got out of it,” Ms Edgerton-Warburton said.

Press PLAY to hear more about the dramatic arrest

A woman has died in hospital after allegedly being assaulted, leading to a police chase through Kewdale and St James that ended with a serious crash and arrest.

About 7:45pm last night police were called to a residence in Knutsford Avenue, Kewdale, where a 35-year-old woman was located with serious injuries.

Police and paramedics administered first aid to the woman before she was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she later died.

A man – who police say was known to the woman – was taken into custody after a grey Ford Ranger he was driving crashed on Berwick Street at the intersection with Emily Street. He was arrested at a nearby residence.
