There is a shortage of ‘real’ Christmas trees interstate, with reports some are selling for more than $300 each.

Tom’s Pine Christmas Trees owner Tom Morgan told Gary Adshead on 6PR Mornings that his business was likely to sell out of trees by this weekend.

“2020 was a disaster, as there were no plastic trees in the shops either… 2021 returned to normal… this year’s a bit short,” he said.

“Last year we planted 5000 trees, we probably lost 3500-4000.”

Anonymous Christmas tree seller Alex told Gary there seems to be an increase in demand for natural trees, but he regrettably had sold out.

“No one is more sorrier than I am because it’s business that you’re losing and turning people away means next year they may not come back to you,” Alex said.
