The charges against Alec Baldwin for the accidental shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchens on the set of Rust are to be dropped, according to the actor’s lawyers.

While Mr Baldwin may be exonerated of knowingly discharging a firearm on a movie set, it remains unclear how a loaded gun managed to make its way into the actor’s hands.

US reporter Charles Feldman told Millsy and Karl on 6PR Breakfast there will be more serious questions asked if the charges are dropped.

“Was the initial judge overzealous? Or has there been a lot of pressure put on authorities from Mexico to drop the charges?” Mr Feldman said.
