The Australian Financial Review’s ‘2022 Rich List’ is led by miners, with WA “oreligarchs” Gina Rinehart and Andrew Forrest at one and two, and a top 10 that includes Australia’s tech royalty

With a wealth of $766 million, Talisman Mining chairman Kerry Harmanis features at no.175 but has used his riches to help educate mostly young people in the benefits of mindfulness, as a director of Mindful Meditation Australia.

The mining entrepreneur said he really doesn’t know what he’s worth, with estimations usually higher than the real figure, but said meditation helped him hone the instinct to sell his $3.1b company Jubilee Mines in 2007.

“It’s about doing something purposeful and meaningful to you, and the money will come,” was his advice to budding Rich Listers and young people on 6PR Mornings with Liam Bartlett.

“Just find some balance and poise to find their values and choices more easily and deal with all the mass of stuff that comes at them every day.”
