During his fortnightly catch-up with Western Australian Police Commissioner Col Blanch, 6PR Mornings host Simon Beaumont sought clarification on why the commissioner was posting notices of impounded cars in the newspaper.

Blanch said the Road Traffic Act requires him to publish notices for vehicles being impounded or confiscated by police.

“So if someone has a financial interest in a car, they have time to make a claim before it might be submitted to the state and seized forever,” he said.
