The pandemic claimed the scalp of the Gourmet Escape but to fill the void is a new three day event – the WA Good Food Guide Southern Weekender.

To be held on the weekend of November 20-22 in the Margaret River Region, this series of events will champion the best of Western Australia’s culinary talent, from chefs and growers to winemakers, brewers and distillers,

In a first, parents can give their kids an epicurean experience with a long table dinner for 8-16 year olds (parents will have their own degustation on the “adults table” of course). Further events will be added in the coming days.

WA Good Food Guide Director Georgia Moore told Oliver Peterson they found a lot of people who were attending the Gourmet Escape had still kept their accommodation booking.

“They were still looking for things to do,” said Ms Moore

“So we came together very quickly to launch a fantastic three day Southern Weekender of incredible culinary experiences.”

There are specially priced accommodation deals at Pullman Bunker Bay and Smith’s Beach Resort. Ms Moore assures Perth LIVE listeners there is plenty of accommodation still available, but the key is to “get in quick.”

Tickets for all events are on sale – wagoodfoodguide.com
