Yesterday Perth was gripped by a three-and-a-half-hour police chase through Perth, which the Police Union claims could have been avoided.

The Union claims if officers had been authorised to use the boxing technique, the pursuit would have ended earlier and protected the public.

WA Police Union acting president Paul Gale told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live the chase could have ended earlier.

“The longer these pursuits continue, the greater a risk that they pose to the community,” said Mr Gale.

“We could have stopped this incident way before.”
