Legendary composer and songwriter Burt Bacharach has died aged 94.

Mr Bacharach is the composer behind more than 500 songs widely known as one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century.

Bacharach worked with the likes of Tom Jones, Neil Diamond and Dionne Warwick with his work covered by Elvis and The Beatles.

“I woke up sad when I heard the news about Burt Bacharach who I absolutely loved, such a genius, and I am thrilled he is getting so much attention today,” Entertainment reporter Peter Ford said on 6PR Breakfast.
