On February seven, Oliver Peterson received a Word on the Street the Fortescue Metals Group were going to axe up to 1000 jobs.

Today the WOTS was confirmed and up to 1000 people from a variety of sectors could be left jobless.

 The Australian resources writer Nick Evans told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live this could be the beginning of a redundancy trend in mining.
