High temperatures and abrupt wind changes set to light Perth skies

SUMMER PERTH LIVE

Perth residents have been warned about high fire risk weather, expected over the next couple of days, with hot temperatures, low humidity and abrupt wind changes forecast.

Peter Sutton, Chief Superintendent of Metropolitan Operations at DFES, told Perth Live that West Australians particularly in the South West division need to be on high alert for the risk of bush fires.

“We are likely to put a number of total fire bans in place tomorrow and we are going to see extreme fire danger warnings forecast,” Mr Sutton said.

“We also have a risk of dry lightning on Tuesday and that’s at the peak of this adverse weather – if we do get a fire it’s going to be difficult to control.”
