The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has confirmed a small fire in a toilet bin forced the evacuation of passengers in Terminal 1 and on planes onto the Perth Airport tarmac.

The fire has been extinguished but Virgin passengers now face delays to flights while the airline’s arrivals terminal is ventilated.

Singapore Airlines passenger Mark Prendiville sent Breakfast the photo above of evacuated passengers on the tarmac.
